WLYC 24 Hour Race
News update for competing clubs
We’re reviving the 24 Hour Race in 2024... are you coming?
Thanks to all the clubs who already expressed interest in supporting the first 24 Hour Race of the new series. We want you all to be there!
We’re adopting an innovative, collaborative model:
• The RYA are advising on race management
• The GP14 Association will manage online entry for teams sailing both Enterprises and GP14s
• We’re asking teams to provide some trained resources to help us make the event safe and enjoyable
• Budworth Sailing Club have stepped up to organise the duty rota
• We’ll retain all the spirit and excitement of the traditional WLYC 24 Hour Race on the water, whilst streamlining some onshore facilities.
• Please contact WLYC directly to enquire about accommodation options. There will be space for camper vans in the car parks on Marine Drive and some limited space for camping under canvas in the dinghy park. Please note there will be no space available this year at Waterside Lodge which is fully booked for a separate event.
If your club also wants to be part of the new history of the UK’s premier dinghy sailing endurance race, be ready to enter from 24th February.
Dates: 21-22 September 2024
Venue: Marine Lake, Southport, Lancashire
