Iceland Offshore Adventure
A note from Andrew's wife Tracy
"I'm sad to have to write this update:
So Andrew was well on his way home and both proud and excited to have undertaken such an epic trio and raised so much money - over £2000 in total.
Yesterday lunchtime he received a call from his dad and was advised to get into the closet harbour, leave the boat and come home as his mum had taken a turn for the worse and time was critical.
He asked if he could carry on and get home next weekend - his original plan but was advised against it.
Obviously with such a call he has to take the advice of his dad and also then his mind wouldn't be in the right place to carry on for 6 days alone, without contact and be worrying.
So he is heading into Reykjavik where he will leave his boat (we don't know for how long, if he will eventually sail it back etc) and we are trying to get him home tomorrow.
He is so sad to that he won't complete his trip but he is extremely grateful for all the sponsorship, help and support he has received - it has been outstanding!"
Note from the club:
"Andrew you have been an inspiration to us all at the club; especially as you have joined so recently. This is such sad news for you and your family.
The thoughts of all at West Lancashire Yacht Club are with you all."
